Please pray for the soul of Columban Father Gerald Griffin who died in Ireland last Sunday. He was ordained in December 1949 and spent most of his life as a priest in Japan. He had been in failing health in recent years.

Here is the death notice from The Irish Times:

Please pray for the soul of Elizabeth Saenz, sister of Columban Father G. Chris Saenz, a frequent contributor to Misyon. Father Chris was in Ireland preparing to go on the pilgrimage in the footsteps of St Columban with more than 30 other young Columban priests when he had to return to the USA because of his sister's death at the age of 46.

The dogs were very noisy, someone was calling out my name. it was 1.15am, I was wondering what was happening. Upon opening the door, one of our neighbor, an old man, asked me to please bring his son to the hospital. as usual this is my role in the community in time of emergencies, since I am the only one in the community with car. I immediately changed my clothes and went outside. I saw the patient being assisted by his cousins and I could sense the seriousness of the situation. We immediately jumped into the car and the car did not start.
