Filipinos in the Isle of Man celebrate links with flowers

The Isle of Man is situated in the Irish Sea, between Ireland and northern England. It has a population of about 50,000 and in recent years quite a few Filipinos have gone to work there, many of them in nursing homes. Your editor celebrated Mass with the Filipino community a number of times in 2002. Manx Radio recently posted a report on how the Filipino community celebrated their links with the Isle of Man. ('Manx' is the adjective for anything from the island). There is a clip from an interview with Nora Loudon-Brown (photo below), a Filipina who lives there. the link is below.

The integration of a large number of Filipinos into the Manx community is the theme of a spectacular floral display in the sunken gardens on Douglas promenade.
It's close to the Bottleneck Car Park and was planted on June 12, the country's independence day, giving double cause for celebration.
The display was examined by the Britain in Bloom judges, on their tour of Douglas on Monday.
Nora Loudon-Brown, a prominent member of the local Filipino community, told Graham Bell how it all came about:
