A FILIPINA volunteer got the rare privilege to represent Asia in
asking Pope Benedict XVI a question during the World Youth Day
celebrations in Spain, according to a news report posted on YouthPinoy!
site on Sunday.
Kritzia Santos, 26, a member of apostolic lay movement Regnum
Christi, joined four other delegates, each representing a continent, in
the special question and answer segment of the celebrations.
“It is my desire to reach high goals, but success and big dreams are
always linked to amassing wealth and high positions,” Santos asked the
pope, voicing the concern of young people about balancing the desire for
success with the call to being a Christian.
“How can I be faithful to my faith without distancing myself from
society?” she asked in front of an estimated 1.5 million pilgrims.
There was a sudden downpour and strong winds that delayed Pope
Benedict XVI’s response to the questions of the five youth
representatives.
The pope answered the questions in general, starting with the
question from Santos. “In the Gospel, Jesus gives us an answer. Deep in
our hearts, we yearn for what is grand and beautiful in life, but ground
them in Jesus,” he said.
Santos was the fourth delegate to ask Pope Benedict XVI a question,
following a Kenyan youth who asked about the reality of famine in Africa
like Somalia.
In an interview with YouthPinoy! at Parque de Retiro, Santos admitted
she hesitated in accepting the invitation to represent Asia in the
brief Q&A with the pope.
“Actually, because I’m a very shy person, I didn’t want to,” she said.
Having spent almost three months in Madrid coordinating the WYD
volunteers for Asia, Santos was ecstatic despite her nervousness.
“It’s such a blessing. I don’t deserve many things I receive in my life,” she said of her experience.
The other representatives asked questions about the Christian
marriage as a vocation and about Jesus as the true object of all human
desires.
Report from YouthPinoy!

we, youth are often been misunderstood?
“It is my desire to reach high goals, but success and big dreams are
always linked to amassing wealth and high positions,” Santos
Success means high disposition, huge income, power and wealth. Success comprises all goodness in life. But because human can never be satisfied the term "success" has been abused. If one has achieved greater success they tend to misunderstood the real essence of success, one tend to become greedy, matapobre(one who looks down on poor people)and overpower the lowly.
but...
As youth it is our challenge to use properly the terms "big dreams" and "success".We are the ones holding the future so it's possible to make step changing the world and words. We are often been misunderstood. Elder would always hitched label unto us...majority(impolite,undisciplined and irresponsible)but through prayer and faith in God we can contribute in getting these prefixes. This could have been our battle. We should use our wealth by helping other's and teach them how to fish so they could have live more years!
