Hmmm, this is different!
I would like to share a different celebration of Ash Wednesday at Cornell Catholic Community. There were several containers of ashes provided to two pews. The person near the center aisle is first given the ashes. After which, s/he places the ashes to the person next to him/her repeating the words, "Turn away from sin and believe in the Gospel."
A pamphlet "What Am I Doing for Lent this Year" is also given. It is guide and diary of the things for forty days.
Have a reflective Lenten Season!
Pass on
Yeah, different yet so meaningful. It's like passing on a blessing and taking responsibility as well...
God bless us all with a spirit-filled and meaningful Lenten Season!

'Love is embracing all and loving especially the unlovables.'
I agree...
I agree that it was a very meaningful and symbolical... For me, it's like saying that we recognize that our journey of lent, our remorse, repentance, and mourning is a journey with others and we have the responsibility of helping our brothers and sisters as we face the challenges of this world. We recognize that they can also remind us and help us realize our sins. We accept that we are sinners and we are willing to live a new life with them and with Jesus. Jesus retreated
into the wilderness and fasted for forty days to prepare for
his ministry. It was for Him a time of contemplation, reflection,
and preparation. By observing Lent, we join Jesus
on His retreat. We contemplate, we reflect, we prepare for a new beginning... We make the decision of carrying our cross with him and trusting him again... because we want a new life with him...
