"Never read books you aren’t sure about..."

Well I guess nothing will go wrong reading any book as long as you are responsible. Books will give us information that sometimes we don't like but if we will try to take it positively, it can teach lessons, then it becomes a material for learning and for self-enhancement as well.
God bless us all!

be careful with what we read
But then again, there are books that are misleading and can influence the reader in a bad way. So if I know of a book of this kind, I see to it and I discourage my friends from reading it. I guess we just need to be careful what we read *wink*
a form of self-expression
At the height of Da Vinci Code issue, I attended a forum about it. The priest said, "If you're a Catholic who have read the whole book but has not even read the Bible, a shame on you."
I did not read the book but I watched the movie. A friend warned me because he said I put myself in the danger of confusion. I told him that to defeat the enemy, one has to know his tactics. I was also confident that I am grounded on the Catholic truths. So, with my sister, we watched, scrutinized and disapproved it. It was also helpful because my tutee that time told me that he thought it was true. So I explained to him that it's a fiction. I was also able to discuss it thoroughly with some of my students.
I still believe that we have to be selective in choosing the books we read, movies we watch and places to go because they somehow affect our personality and reflect our preferences.
Show me the books he loves and I shall know the man
far better than through mortal friends.

Read Critically...
I am one of the many people who like reading books...
Reading is really fun and it can make us forget time sometimes.
Many people tend to distort reality and truth. They confuse people through the written media.
So when we read, we should be very critical and logical. A nice priest once told me, "If you believe in every thing you read, better not read."

The latest books I have read
One of the many reasons why I love reading is that because I believe that we cannot experience everything in this life and we cannot live that long to learn everything. Yet, reading provides us with ideas and thoughts which we may not even recognized with our own lives. In the lives of others, we can learn second-hand realizations which we can integrate in our own lives. In reading, we can always give ourselves the opportunity to go back to certain scenes and reflect on them deeply. Because reading is influential, we should consider what kind of reading materials we are spending our time of. Before reading, it would help to pray first to God that He will open our minds and send us the Holy Spirit to guide our way of thinking...
Actually, two of the latest books I have read are worth-reading and have taught me lessons through vicarious experiences. They were Mitch Albom's For One More Day and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's The Little Prince.
'For One More Day' brought me into tears and made me realize my own weaknesses and imperfections as a daughter. When the man in the story was given one more day to return to his childhood and to be with his mother again, I was able to reminisce my own childhood and for many times, recall my happy moments with my mother. I felt the guilt and regrets as well, upon relating with the man's mistake to his parents. After reading the book, I wanted to go home immediately to tell my mother that I love her so much.
'The Little Prince' is a book that stayed in my cabinet for a number of weeks before 'giving it a chance' thinking that the book is just a mere story book for children. But when I had started reading it, I become so meditative that I started to notice and appreciate even the slightest detail of our existence. The Little Prince is no doubt a good book for all ages. It is the book that made me laugh and frown at the same time...Some of its amazing points were:
"One cannot see well except with the heart, the essential is invisible to the eyes."
"You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed..."
"It is the time you have spent with your rose that makes your rose so important."
So go ahead...Read good books and change your life for good!
"For I know the plans I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and future."
-Jeremiah 29:11-
Indeed those are two great
Indeed those are two great books, the lessons of which are worth remembering and living for a lifetime. It really made me reflect and allowed me to go back to myself. I had read those years ago and still whenever I see those I am moved to pause and scan even just a page or two. Those are inspirational books that I would love to read again and again if given the luxury of time.
Come on, let's invite more people to read such kind of books.
