Peace by Peace: Take Up His Cross
In this month’s Peace by Peace, one of the articles that I had read was entitled “Take Up His Cross.” It was said in there that taking up the cross means embracing it voluntarily. Many times in our lives, we are denying our own crosses. Others would spend half of their lives, escaping all the burdens or passing most of the difficulties to another person or just simply becoming stagnant because of the fear to risk. There are also instances that a person would even resort to killing his own life because there seems to be no way out…Depression could really poison one’s thoughts especially if he is already viewing his situation and himself as hopeless.
But what I could really remember from this part of our Peace by Peace are those challenging series of questions and their truthful answer: “…Who loves us more than God? No one. What does He wish for us? All that is good. Did He not show us both things by dying in order to take us to heaven?”
Yes, we are all guaranteed of Christ’s love for us. The cross that we are carrying in our shoulders, no matter how big we seem to look at it, is insignificant compared to the good which we shall attain through it. We have to carry our cross---but we are not push to carry it alone, because our flesh alone is weak. God is with us while we are carrying our crosses and many times, we could feel His presence through our family, through our friends, through the calming nature and through our own selves every time we can experience that our spirit is willing and ready. Our own strength alone could fail us many times but God's love never fails us...There would always be a way out and we are not living this life for nothing... May all of us be able to feel God’s presence while we are carrying our crosses…May we all find that spirit to be willing in facing what's life has to offer us and the determination to do what's right and what God wants us to do...
