'Sendong' victims undergo social preparation for housing program
MANILA, Feb. 5, 2012—The National Secretariat for Social Action, Justice and Peace of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines is pursuing its social preparation program in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan to help typhoon victims get back on their feet again.
Requiem Mass for ‘Battle of Manila’ victims
MANILA, Feb. 4, 2012— A Requiem Mass will be held for the thousands of Filipino civilians who died during the “Battle of Manila” in the early 1945.
To be led by Bishop Leopoldo Tumulak of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines, the service will be held at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros at 10 a.m. on February 13.
PPCRV to keep close watch on Zambales special polls
MANILA, Feb. 3, 2012— The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting said it is all set for tomorrow’s special elections in Zambales province.
PPCRV national chairperson Henrietta De Villa said they have about 1,000 volunteers assigned as poll watchers to ensure a credible election in the second congressional district of Zambales.

Bishop appeals for mining moratorium in Eastern Samar
MANILA, Feb. 2, 2012-- A Catholic bishop has appealed to the Aquino administration to impose a moratorium on mining in Eastern Samar to protect the province’s remaining forests.
Borongan Bishop Crispin Varquez said that several large-scale and small-scale mining operations in the province do not guarantee responsible mining, environment protection and rehabilitation.
Caritas sends P6M worth of donations to Sendong victims
MANILA, Feb. 2, 2012—A total of P6 million in cash donations has been given by Caritas Damay Kapanalig to the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro and the Diocese of Iligan to aid the rehabilitation programs for the victims of typhoon Sendong.
Caritas Damay Kapanalig is a joint disaster relief and rehabilitation program of Caritas Manila and Radyo Veritas 846.
Prelate backs reinvestigation of ‘Jose Pidal’ account

Children celebrate Mission year
SAN CARLOS City, Feb. 1, 2011—The Missionary Community in San Carlos City celebrated the feast of Sto. Niño and the Holy Childhood Sunday last January 15 through a children “Sinulog” presentation.
Around 150 missionary children gathered at Balay sa Nazaret and held a procession to the chapel. The children prayed for the whole world represented by the five continents.
